Emraan Hashmi
Emraan Hashmi carved out a lane nobody else in Bollywood really occupied — moody, obsessive love songs for films that weren't afraid to be a little dark about romance. Somewhere along the way the "serial kisser" tag turned into a genuine reputation for picking soundtracks with real staying power, from Murder to Aashiqui to Jannat and beyond. This one's for anyone who wants the heartbreak-and-longing side of Hindi film music without the usual gloss.

Syed Emraan Anwar Hashmi was born on 24 March 1979 in Mumbai, into the Bhatt family — he's the nephew of directors Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt. After graduating from Mumbai's Sydenham College, he worked as an assistant director on the 2002 horror film "Raaz" before Mahesh Bhatt pushed him toward acting. His debut, the crime thriller "Footpath" (2003), barely made a dent at the box office, but "Murder" (2004) changed everything — its soundtrack turned into a sensation and the film's success, along with his on-screen persona, earned him the "serial kisser" tag that followed him for years.
He built a run of soundtrack-driven hits through the mid-2000s with "Zeher," "Aashiq Banaya Aapne," and "Gangster" (which brought him his first Filmfare nomination), before critically acclaimed work in "Awarapan" (2007) and "Jannat" (2008) showed there was more range behind the reputation. His later films "Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai" and "Shanghai" earned him Best Supporting Actor nominations, and "Murder 2" (2011) became one of his biggest commercial hits. Across more than two decades he's picked up multiple Filmfare nominations for a body of work built almost entirely on moody, melancholic love songs.
